Q: pink ribbon?
I don't remember where the use of the PINK RIBBON comes from. I think it started with a campaign for funds against cancer, but now you can see it used for a lot of things and I don't understand. Thanks.
A: i think its associated wtih breast cancer awareness.
The first ribbon was red for aids awareness
it is an awareness-raising tool usable by people across the world. now there are ribbons in other colors for different causes.
recently the color wristband has become popular also as an awareness-raising tool, it was first use by the Lance Armstrong Foundation for its LIVESTRONG campaign (yellow wristband) on cancer awareness and has since been adobpted by many other charitable organisation such as the Make Poverty History campaign which uses a red and a white wristband.
Q: How do I make a pink ribbon pinata for a breast cancer party?
I am throwing a 5 year survivorship breast cancer party for my sister, and I would like to make a large pink ribbon pinata. I'm having trouble on designing it to look like a ribbon. I thought of using a large ballon for the top, and then a couple long ballons for the bottom......but any other ideas? Thanks!
A: Draw a big ribbon on bristol board or cardboard, cut it out, make another one the same as the first. You'll want to attach them about 4 inches apart with more cardboard pieces as the edging. Tape everything into place with white masking tape, leaving a cut out door on the top. You now have a 3-d ribbon. Make sure it's very secure and able to hold the load you'll fill it with.
Cover it with pink tissue paper pieces (rip or cut into small squares, wrap onto the tip of a pencil eraser, dip in glue and stick it on...all over. Or layer it on and glue each one with white glue). When it's all dry, fill it up.

A friend has cancer and is only expected to live for a few months at most. Really feeling miserable! I saw a news article about massage from the pink ribbon foundation. How do we get help from the pink ribbon foundation?
A: Try to surf the internet and find out if it has telephone numbers there so you can contact them.

Q: What happened to the pink Breast Cancer ribbon that was on my Yahoo Homepage?
I changed my Yahoo homepage to the pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awarness but today the pink ribbon is gone. I loved having that ribbon on there as I lost an Aunt to Breast Cancer two years ago. How do I get it back?
A: The home page graphics are changed periodically by Yahoo. If they removed the ribbon, it's probably gone for good. The past day or two they were featuring a question by Hillary Clinton on what people could do to prevent breast cancer. That's probably why they had the ribbon featured.
Q: Does anyone know where I can find a picture of just a pink ribbon tied around a safety pin?
I'm working on getting a Breast Cancer Awareness Day going at my college. We might be selling t-shirts and donating all the money to the ACS, but I also wanted to sell pins, but the Komen Foundation is dragging their feet about getting back to me so I thought I'd just make pins, but I just wanted to make them simple, but profound and I thought just a simple pink ribbon tied to a safety pin would be good, but I can't find a picture of one to show to make sure the idea would be approved before I make a lot of them. Do any of you know where I can find a picture of just a pink ribbon on a safety pin?
**If possible please provide hyperlinks to pictures. Thanks!
I want a picture of it today so I can show it to be approved so I can go to Walmart tonight to get supplies.
A: Here are a few links that might help you out!! The first pic is with a red ribbon, but you can get the idea. My grandmother died of breast Cancer, so I wish you a lotta luck at your college with raising awareness!!!! Good luck!
Q: Ideas to put in goodie bags for a Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon Brunch?
I am running a Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon Brunch for friends and family in October and would like to give attendees a thank you goodie bag and i am looking for some suggestions of what to put in it.
Any suggestions would be great!
A: Have you tried the Positive Promotions website? They have all sorts of really nice fun things you could fill the goodie bags with. Also, they have a link to the Breast Cancer Awareness Idea Blog and there are terrific ideas for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Q: Is the pink ribbon an international symbol for breast cancer, or is it just American? ?
I have a close family friend in Belgium who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I am making a care package for her, so I was wondering if the pink ribbon is an international symbol for breast cancer. Also, if you have any ideas for gifts, that would be great.
A: How very thoughtful you are!
I believe the pink ribbon has become international.
I work with a group that does "care" packages for women with breast cancer. We include things such as cd's (both Melissa Ethridge and Olivia Newton John have cd's with songs of inspiration that are wonderful) and some "special" small books or cards with a strong message of hope.
I was far away from one of my sisters when she was diagnosed and her favorite thing that I sent was "arms" that I cut out of heavy paper. I sent it with a note that until I could get there myself, here was a hug whenever she needed it. Yeah, I know it sounds childish, but it made her laugh and let her know I was thinking about her.
Q: Do you think you have to know someone with breast cancer or have it yourself to buy the Pink Ribbon products?
I love the Pink Ribbon products, but I kind of feel weird buying them when I don't have or know anyone with BC. I don't want to make it seem like I might have it by wearing the products and possibly draw attention to myself.. what do you think?
A: I think it is great you are supporting breast cancer, just because you may not have it yourself or know anyone doesn't mean you don't care. Just like buying the yellow ribbons that support the troops, just because you may not know anybody in that position, doesn't mean you don't care. And the happiness that comes with buying the pink ribbon breast cancer products go to a good cause and you can make alot of people happy.
I know i can say ( because 2 people in my family have breast cancer ), thank you for supporting. You made my day. =]
Q: Does any one have an idea for a pink ribbon cancer awareness tattoo?
My boyfriend's Grandma found out she has breast cancer a week ago. We are all wanting to get a tattoo of the pink ribbon but we were wanting some neat design ideas for it. We plan on getting them and suprising her with them to show her our support. Most tattoo sites now are making you pay and I cannot seem to find any pictures of one. So pictures would be a plus. But if you have an idea please share I can use my imagination and draw it. Thanks.
A: just find a picture of a pink bow online that you like and take it to the artist. you don't have to have a picture of a tattoo to have it tattooed.
Q: How do I get rid of the pink ribbon next to the Yahoo logo??
It is annoying. I know its for breast cancer awarness month and don't get me wrong, I'm not hatting in any way, but I dont want to see it on my yahoo page. I can change the background color back to my original but I can't get rid of the pink ribbon next to the yahoo logo.
A: Hey there, I don't think you can. Yahoo probably has a contract with the Breast Cancer group that they have to leave it on their webpage throughout the month of October, so everyone will probably have to leave it on their yahoo page all month. You'll be seeing it in your grocery stores as well and in Target, Walmart, etc. so get used to it lol. =)
Q: Why does Eeyore (from Winnie the Pooh) have a pink ribbon on his tail?
Just curious to know if there is a reason why this character has a pink ribbon on his tail, versus any other color. My daughter asked me the same thing. So thanks for any information you can give!
A: Why not a pink ribbon, maybe that was all they had. It's like asking why Winnie wears a read T-shirt.
Q: Mommies how did you get the pink ribbon on ur avatar?
I know it's BCA month and would like to add a pink ribbon to mine.
thanx
I know where are you Jonny's Mommy? We need you? BTW how's the new job?
It's been forever since you've been on here. This may get deleted for chatting. LOL
Johnny sorry bout the mis spell
A: That's me, I can do it for you. Just send me a message with your email address. Thanks for participating, this section looks great!
Q: Is the pink ribbon, used to symbolize breast cancer awareness, trademarked?
Trying to settle a debate as to the pink ribbon symbol. Is it a registered trademark?
A: Yes, I found several records. You can view the full records by going to: http://tarr.uspto.gov and entering these serial numbers (enter one at a time):

Q: why do English legal documents get tied up with PINK ribbon ?
I'am just looking for the reason why the ribbon is always pink .
A: Pink is faded red...
"pink tape is used to tie up bundles of legal papers, these days mainly for sending papers to Counsel (barristers). Green tape - same material dyed green is used to sew up documents and black is/was used for wills/probate papers."
